It was my first time building a set, so I was extremely nervous of how it would turn out. I love the idea of a monochromatic photoshoot and complementary colors, so this shoot has a little bit of both. It’s an all green shoot making it monochromatic, but the model’s hair is red, so that also makes it complementary. Put it all together, and you have a green monochromatic fashion photoshoot, with a play on complementary color.
I bought the supplies from Home Depot and then my step dad went back to get 2 x 4 wooden planks so that the set could be taken apart and put back together. To see how the set was built and assembled, you can watch the behind the scenes of the shoot here.
These photoshoots are to build not only my portfolio, but the team’s portfolio. I reached out the modeling agency, Click ATL and asked if I could work with any of their new face models. They sent me over a list and once I saw Jamillah, I immediately wanted to work with her. I thought she was gorgeous with beautiful freckles and looking at her portfolio, I felt as if she’d fit this concept perfectly.
